Your Right to Data Deletion
At SproutAStory, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal data. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, for any reason.
What Data Gets Deleted
When you request account deletion, we will permanently remove:
Account Information
- Email address and login credentials
- Account preferences and settings
- Profile information
- Subscription and billing history
Character and Story Data
- All created characters and their details
- Family relationships and character connections
- Generated stories and story library
- Story preferences and custom prompts
Usage Data
- App usage patterns and preferences
- Feature interaction history
- Support ticket history
- Communication records
Data We May Retain
For legal, security, and business purposes, we may retain certain data in anonymized form:
Legal Requirements
- Financial records for tax and audit purposes (7 years)
- Fraud prevention data (anonymized)
- Legal compliance records as required by law
Anonymized Analytics
- Aggregated usage statistics (no personal identifiers)
- Performance and error metrics
- General demographic data for service improvement
Important: Any retained data is completely anonymized and cannot be linked back to you or your account.
How to Request Data Deletion
Method 1: Through Your Account
- Log in to your SproutAStory account
- Go to Account Settings → Privacy & Data
- Click "Delete My Account and Data"
- Confirm your decision and provide feedback (optional)
- Receive confirmation email with deletion timeline
Method 2: Email Request
Send an email to privacy@sproutastory.com with:
- Subject line: "Data Deletion Request"
- Your account email address
- Confirmation that you want to delete all data
- Any specific concerns or feedback (optional)
Method 3: Parental Requests
Parents can request deletion of their child's data by:
- Emailing coppa@sproutastory.com
- Including child's character names and account details
- Providing verification of parental authority
- Specifying if you want to delete the entire family account
Deletion Timeline
Immediate Actions (Within 24 Hours)
- Account access is disabled
- Data is marked for deletion in our systems
- No new data collection occurs
- Confirmation email is sent
Complete Deletion (Within 30 Days)
- All personal data is permanently deleted from active systems
- Backups are purged according to our retention schedule
- Third-party processors are notified to delete data
- Final confirmation email is sent
Note: During the 30-day period, your data is inaccessible but not yet permanently deleted. You can contact us to restore your account within this window.
Before You Delete

- Account Deactivation: Temporarily disable your account
- Data Export: Download your stories and characters first
- Privacy Settings: Adjust what data we collect
- Support: Contact us if you have specific privacy concerns
What You'll Lose
- All created characters and their stories
- Your story library and favorites
- Account preferences and settings
- Any remaining subscription benefits
- Access to previously generated content
Data Export Before Deletion
Before deleting your account, you can export your data:
- Download all your generated stories as PDF files
- Export character information and family relationships
- Save account preferences and settings
- Request a complete data package via email

Important Warning
Data deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please make sure you have exported any content you want to keep before proceeding with deletion. We cannot recover your data once the deletion process is complete.
